Mary Porter has always been one to help others.
Mary has personally helped to rebuild homes damaged by floods, volunteered to play the piano at churches from North Carolina to St John, USVI, collected supplies for families that lost homes in natural disasters, played piano and sang at nursing homes and hospitals, collected and distributed food for hurricane victims, performed in fundraisers to help battered women and most recently made hundreds of COVID masks for hospitals.
In 2019, Mary Porter presented a benefit concert for "aid to children with CANCER" in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. While in Puerto Vallarta, Mary discovered that children with cancer had to journey many hours away for chemo treatments. Each trip was not only a hardship on the children physically, but was also a huge burden on their families, especially financially. Proceeds from Mary Porter's benefit show exceeded $140,000 MXN. That assistance helped many families.
